Epiphone Les Paul Classic Ebony / Gloss Black (2019) Versatile Tone Machine

Price: £375 – SOLD

The Les Paul is an iconic guitar used by many guitar heroes over the years, and this 2019 Les Paul Classic in sleek ebony black is a phenomenal example from Epiphone’s highly acclaimed Modern Collection. Built in October 2019 at the Qingdao factory, this guitar perfectly bridges the gap between classic late 50’s aesthetics and modern tonal flexibility. It also features the highly sought after Kalamazoo style headstock, which closely mirrors the historic Gibson open book shape and gives this instrument a seriously premium presence on stage or on the wall.

Under the hood, this Classic is an absolute Swiss Army knife of tone. It comes equipped with a pair of open-coil “zebra” (black and cream) Alnico Classic PRO™ humbuckers, designed by Epiphone USA to deliver that authentic, rich, vintage PAF punch. What really sets this model apart, however, is its modern wiring harness. Paired with factory CTS electronics, the guitar features two push/pull volume pots for individual coil-splitting, instantly turning those beefy humbuckers into snappy single-coils and a push/pull tone pot for phase switching. Whether you want thick classic rock crunch, funky single-coil bite, or that famous out-of-phase Peter Green honk, this guitar does it all. It also comes factory fitted with premium Grover® Rotomatic machine heads to ensure rock-solid tuning stability and reliability.

Condition wise, this guitar is in near perfect condition and has clearly been incredibly well looked after. It is a beautifully clean example, showing only some hardly noticeable light surface scratches on the back from typical belt contact, and a few minor marks down by the jack socket. These are the kind of light surface marks you can really only see when you actively highlight them under direct lighting.

As with all instruments that pass through my hands, this guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment in the Sosbro Guitar Co. workshop to ensure it arrives stage ready. I have cleaned all the hardware, conditioned the fretboard, and cleaned and tested all the pots and switches. It has been restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge) and given a full workshop setup, dialed in with a comfortable medium action that makes it a joy to play. It has that unmistakable, resonant Les Paul sustain and a neck profile that just sits perfectly in the hand.

If you are looking for a sleek, timeless black Les Paul that delivers the classic look but packs a massive amount of modern versatility under the hood, this is a magnificent choice at a very sensible price point. I can assure you, if this becomes your new axe, you will not be disappointed!

No gig bag or hard case is included, but as a specialist reseller, I have various suitable options available separately. I stock a number of brand-new Gator bags and cases, as well as a few quality second-hand options. Just ask for details, and I’ll be happy to offer a discount when a case is purchased together with the guitar.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Condition: Used – Near-perfect condition with very minor surface wear (see description).

Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro Trans Blue Burst (2017) with Coil-Splitting

Price: £435 – SOLD

The Les Paul is an iconic guitar used by many guitar heroes over the years, and this 2017 Standard Pro in Trans Blue Burst is quite a looker. This particular example was built in November 2017 at the Qingdao factory in China, a facility that has proven itself time and again when it comes to delivering modern build quality and excellent structural reliability.

People in the guitar industry often talk about “case queens”, instruments that have spent their whole lives stored away in a hard case, remaining in pristine condition but unseen, and mostly unplayed. I’d call this one a “wall queen”. The previous owner clearly knew this guitar was way too pretty to be locked away. It’s a bit like having Margot Robbie as your woman but keeping her locked in the house because you’re worried she might trip over and ugly herself up outside. I digress (sorry!), but my point is, this beautiful guitar was clearly kept pride of place on a wall display, likely near a window, to be admired.

Because it was treated as someone’s prized display piece, the guitar is extremely clean and tidy. Despite my best efforts, I can’t find a single knock or dent on it. However, because it has been sat out, on display, the translucent blue finish has naturally started to slightly deepen over time and there are a few areas, under and around the pickups, bridge, and tailpiece where the UV rays naturally didn’t hit, leaving the original lighter shading underneath. It is hardly noticeable to the naked eye, but it adds an incredible sense of natural charm and individual character to the instrument. To match that vibe, the nickel hardware has started to naturally age with a slight, beautiful misting effect. Otherwise, it just shows the normal, very light surface swirling that is only visible when highlighted under direct lighting.

Under the hood, this “Pro” model is packed with top-tier factory features. It comes equipped with Epiphone’s USA-designed ProBucker pickups, featuring a vintage PAF-voiced ProBucker-2 in the neck and a slightly hotter ProBucker-3 in the bridge, both loaded with Alnico II magnets for that warm, rich, and articulate classic rock bite. For ultimate tonal versatility, the electronics feature a standard 3-way toggle switch paired with full-size controls, including two volume knobs equipped with push/pull coil-splitting. This allows you to instantly drop each humbucker into a single-coil sound on the fly, giving you everything from thick, heavy humbucker crunch to snappy, Strat-like clarity.

As with all instruments that pass through my hands, this guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment in the Sosbro Guitar Co. workshop to ensure it arrives stage ready. I have completely deep cleaned all the hardware, conditioned the fretboard, and cleaned and tested all the pots and switches. It has been restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge) and given a full workshop setup, dialed in with a comfortable medium action that makes it a joy to play.

If you are looking for a visually striking, highly versatile Les Paul that feels great in the hand and stands out from the usual sunburst crowd, this Trans Blue Burst Pro beast of a guitar is a magnificent choice. I can assure you, if this becomes your new axe, you will not be disappointed!

No gig bag or hard case is included in the price, but as a specialist reseller, I have various suitable options available separately. I stock a number of brand-new Gator bags and cases, as well as a few quality second-hand options. Just ask for details, and I’ll be happy to offer a discount when a case is purchased together with the guitar.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard Tobacco Burst (2004)

Description

The Les Paul is an iconic guitar used by many guitar heroes over the years, and this 2004 Standard in Tobacco Burst is a rock-solid example of why these mid-2000s models are so highly regarded as dependable workhorses. This particular guitar was built in December 2004 at the DaeWon factory. Within the guitar community, “DW” models are often highly praised for their heavy, resonant wood choices and exceptional sustain, making them a favourite for players who want that classic, Les Paul feel, sound, resonance and look.

Now over 22 years old, it’s fair to say this guitar has “lived a life.” It isn’t a case queen, it’s a guitar that has been played and enjoyed, and it wears that history with a lot of character. Naturally, it has picked up some knocks, scrapes, and bruises along the way. Most of these are very minor surface scratches that are primarily visible under direct lighting, and notably, the front of the guitar remains in very clean shape with no visible marks or dents.

I want to be totally transparent regarding the condition: when this guitar reached the Sosbro Guitar Co. workshop, it had two “gnarly” looking dents. To ensure these didn’t develop further or lead to more lacquer loss, I have undertaken cosmetic repairs to stabilize them. They are now filled and are smooth to the touch. While they remain visible, they have no impact on the structural integrity or the way the guitar feels against you while playing. I have highlighted these clearly in the photos and videos (with before and after pics).

Despite its journey, the guitar is in generally very good shape for a guitar of its age. It feels very comfortable in the hand and has that “broken-in” feel that only comes with age. The guitar has undergone a full professional refurbishment to ensure it’s stage-ready, which includes a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge) and a setup with a comfortable medium/low action that makes it a joy to play. Additionally, all hardware has been deep-cleaned, the fretboard conditioned, and all pots and switches have been cleaned.

If you are looking for a pristine, ‘out of the box’ brand-new instrument, this may not be the one for you. But if you want a mature, well-built Les Paul with genuine mojo and a professional setup that’s ready to work, this is a fantastic option at a great price. I can assure you, if this becomes your new axe, you will not be disappointed!

No gig bag or hard case is included in the price, but as a specialist reseller, I have various suitable options available separately including brand-new Gator bags and cases, as well as some second-hand options. Just ask for details, and I can offer a discount when purchased together with the guitar.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60’s (2023) “Inspired by Gibson” Iced Tea Burst

Price: £450 – SOLD

This Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60s “Inspired by Gibson” in a stunning Iced Tea Burst is a fantastic example of the newer generation of Epiphone guitars, designed with vintage-accurate specifications and that unmistakable classic Les Paul feel.

The Les Paul is, of course, one of the most iconic guitars in the world, used by countless guitar heroes over the years. This particular example was made in August 2023 at the Qingdao factory in China and presents in exceptional condition, clearly having been very well looked after.

Part of Epiphone’s hugely successful “Inspired by Gibson” range, these models were created to bring the look, feel and tone of vintage Les Pauls to a more accessible price point. You get all the key ingredients here, a mahogany body paired with a maple cap for that classic combination of warmth, punch and top-end clarity, delivering the unmistakable Les Paul sound.

Every so often there is a guitar that I work on in the Sosbro Guitar Co. workshop that I think to myself, wow, that feels really great in the hand, it sounds great and looks stunning, this one is it! In my opinion, this is the absolute dogs b$£locks of the current Epiphone stock! It could be that I personally love this darker sunburst paired with a fretboard wood that is also darker than usual, or it could just be that unmistakable Les Paul sound, coupled with a nice, comfortable low action.

This guitar is fitted with Epiphone USA-designed ProBucker humbuckers, with a ProBucker 2 in the neck and a slightly hotter ProBucker 3 in the bridge. Together with CTS potentiometers and vintage-style wiring, this setup delivers rich, dynamic, touch-sensitive tones, from smooth, warm cleans to biting, articulate lead sounds. It’s a very responsive guitar that feels alive in the hands.

The guitar features a Kalamazoo-style headstock, Grover tuners, Graph Tech nut, and Epiphone’s LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece, all contributing to excellent tuning stability, sustain and reliability.

Condition-wise, this is in almost perfect condition. There is a very slight dent (less than 4mm by 3mm) located on the front side by the low E string bridge screw. It is almost completely smooth to the feel and could easily be mistaken for a natural wood knot. There are also a few minor marks on the bridge pickup cover where the previous owner had temporarily removed it, these are easily overlooked unless you are actively looking for them. Otherwise, it just has the usual very light swirl marks of a guitar that has been well looked after but very much enjoyed. All of these have been shown as clearly as possible in the pictures and video and highlighted under direct light.

The guitar has had a full professional setup, including cleaning of all parts, fretboard conditioning, pots & switch cleaning, and has been restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9–42 gauge). It plays beautifully with a comfortable low action.

Specifications / Features:

• Mahogany body with carved maple cap
• Mahogany neck with Indian Laurel fingerboard
• Epiphone USA-designed ProBucker humbuckers (ProBucker 2 neck / ProBucker 3 bridge)
• Wired to CTS potentiometers
• Vintage-style wiring for dynamic, touch-sensitive tone
• Grover tuners
• Epiphone LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece
• Graph Tech nut
• Pearloid trapezoid inlays
• Vintage-style wiring (2 Volume, 2 Tone controls)
• Kalamazoo-style headstock
• No weight relief
• Gold Top Hat knobs with nickel reflector & dial pointers

I have sold a large number of Epiphone and Gibson guitars over the years, and the “Inspired by Gibson” models are some of the best Epiphones produced in terms of build quality, feel and vintage-correct specifications.

Other than the very minor cosmetic signs mentioned above, this is a superb example that deserves to continue to be played and enjoyed.

I can assure you, if this becomes your new axe, you will not be disappointed!

If you would like a gig bag or hard case, please feel free to message me as I have a number of brand-new Gator guitar bags/case options available, and possibly also a few 2nd hand options available.

These guitars retail new at around £600, so this represents a great opportunity to pick up an incredible feeling and sounding example at a very sensible price, these don’t tend to hang around.

Epiphone Les Paul ES Hollow Body Cherry Sunburst 2002 (Saein factory, Korea)

Price: £695 – SOLD

Description:

The Les Paul is an iconic guitar used by many guitar heroes over the years. This is a fantastic example of the beautiful, expertly constructed, semi-hollow Epiphone Les Paul ES.  This particular guitar was built in October 2002 at the prestigious Saein factory in Korea.

Early 2000s Korean-made Epiphones from the Saein plant, (identified by the “I” prefix), are legendary among players. This Epiphone factory is often referred to as the “Shine” factory and was actually awarded Gibson’s “Best Quality Award” for their manufacturing excellence during this exact era. These guitars represent the “golden era” of Epiphone production. Guitars built during this period in Korea are widely respected for their skilled construction, quality wood selection and excellent craftsmanship. Many players praise the consistent build quality, resonance and use of high-quality woods, components and feel, and these guitars have developed a strong reputation as serious value giants. When properly set up, they can comfortably rival far more expensive modern Gibsons, in both playability and tone.

I have sold many guitars over the years, and I have to say, Epiphone ES models from this era are among my absolute favourite Epiphones. They offer a unique “woody” hollow body resonance, and a lighter feel without sacrificing that classic Les Paul punch.

Now over 24 years old, this guitar is in great condition for its age and has clearly been well looked after. Naturally, over nearly a quarter-century of use, it has picked up some minor cosmetic marks, bumps, and light surface scratches and some discoloration of the gold hardware. Some of the cream plastics are showing slight degeneration. Interestingly, this guitar has started to develop some lovely light wear on the fretboard wood (around the 2^nd to 5^th frets), the kind of authentic “player wear” that only comes from years of being genuinely enjoyed. Most of the bumps, marks, and degeneration are only visible under direct lighting and are purely cosmetic, with no impact on the structure. I have shown these as clearly as possible in the pictures and videos.

The guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment in the Sosbro Guitar Co. workshop. This included the installation of a new neck pickup tone pot, a clean up of the hardware, and the cleaning and testing of all pots and switches. It has also been restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge) and has received a full professional setup to ensure it plays beautifully with a comfortable, medium action.

These “Golden Era” Korean ES models are becoming harder and harder to find in good condition at a sensible price. This is the third Epiphone Les Paul ES I’ve had in stock, the first (an Unsung build), sold for over £700, and the second sold very quickly, within just two weeks. They are rare, highly sought after, and play beautifully. Don’t let this one get away from you!

Other than the minor cosmetic signs of age mentioned above, this is a well-built, mature Korean-made Epiphone that deserves to continue to be played and enjoyed.

I can assure you, if this becomes your new axe, you will not be disappointed!

No gig bag or hardcase is included in the price, but as a specialist reseller, I have various suitable bags and hardcases available separately, just ask for details. These bags and cases are listed separately on eBay however, they will be offered at a discount when purchased together with a guitar.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro Honey Burst (2014) 50’s Wiring + Other Upgrades

Price: £425 – SOLD

The Les Paul is an iconic guitar used by many guitar heroes over the years, and this 2014 Standard Pro in Honey Burst is a delightful example of these great guitars. Built in September 2014 at the highly regarded Qingdao factory in China, this instrument features a sweet Honey Burst finish that is delightfully complemented by a beautiful, naturally dark fingerboard.

Under the hood, this guitar has been thoughtfully transformed. It is loaded with a pair of USA-designed Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO pickups. To take full advantage of these, the electronics have been completely overhauled with high-grade CTS pots, Sprague Orange Drop capacitors (SBE225P100v), and vintage cloth push-back wire. As a final touch, the previous owner upgraded the tuners with Deluxe Kluson-style traditional tuners.

The harness has been wired to authentic 1950’s style specifications. Unlike standard modern wiring that can get muddy and lose its treble when you turn down the volume, ’50s wiring acts as a natural treble bleed, keeping your tone crisp and clear even at lower volumes. Because the volume and tone knobs dynamically “talk” to each other in this circuit, you can easily roll the volume down for sparkly, articulate rhythm parts, and then just turn it right back up for a full, bright solo boost.

Condition-wise, this guitar is in damn near perfect condition. I genuinely can’t find a single bump or ding anywhere on it; it looks like it just left the factory. There is some extremely minor, natural oxidation starting to show on the bridge posts, but other than that, it is immaculate. In my humble opinion, the thoughtful upgrades have elevated this guitar far beyond its original factory specs.

As with all instruments that pass through my hands, this guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment to ensure it arrives studio and stage ready. I have cleaned all the hardware, conditioned the fretboard, and cleaned and tested all the pots and switches. It has been restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge) and given a full workshop setup in the Sosbro Guitar Co. workshop, dialed in with a comfortable medium action that makes it an absolute joy to play.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard – Black / Ebony (2007)

Price: £345 SOLD

Description:

The Les Paul is an iconic guitar used by countless guitar heroes over the years, and this Epiphone Les Paul Standard in classic Black / Ebony is a solid rock machine. Built in April 2007 at the Qingdao factory in China, this guitar has the undeniable feel of a true go-to workhorse instrument.

This is not a case queen, it has clearly been used and enjoyed for over 19 years, resulting in a beautifully broken-in feel with plenty of life left in the frets. It remains in good overall condition and is the kind of guitar that just begs you to pick it up and play, backed up by a great feel and sound that will continue to deliver for many years to come.

Tonally, this guitar offers a great combination of vintage warmth, bite, and modern punch. In the neck position, as factory standard, it is fitted with an Epiphone 57CH(G) (Alnico Classic) humbucker, delivering smooth, warm, PAF-style tones with plenty of clarity. In the bridge, also as factory standard, you have the Epiphone HOTCH(G) pickup, a higher-output humbucker with Alnico V magnets offering a brighter, more aggressive voice with plenty of growl that is ideal for rock and lead playing. Together, they provide a very versatile tonal range, covering everything from clean, rounded tones to punchy, driven sounds.

Condition-wise, it is in good overall shape for a well-loved 19-year-old instrument. It had a small, minor dent on the back of the neck around the 5th fret, which has been sympathetically filled and polished to prevent further chipping and ensure it now feels smooth to the touch under your thumb. Other than that, it shows only a few other slightly worn areas together with the expected surface-level scratches and swirling from honest play, all of which have been photographed under direct lighting for complete transparency.

As with all instruments that pass through my hands at Sosbro Guitar Co., this guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment/setup to ensure it arrives stage ready and plays to its best ability. Full setups in most shops are expensive, and because of the high cost of paying a guitar tech, very few new guitars off the shelf or even second-hand guitars ever get a proper going over before being sold. I have personally already done the hard work for you. During its service, I removed the old strings, cleaned the fretwire, polished the frets, cleaned and tested all the volume/tone pots and the pickup switch, and polished the entire guitar. Finally, it was restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge), tuned, and correctly intonated, dialed in with a comfortable medium action that makes it an absolute joy to play.

Due to the extensive workshop setup, this guitar genuinely plays better than when it was sold brand new. Guitars from this era offer excellent value for money with solid construction and dependable hardware. Modern equivalents retail at around £600, so this represents a great opportunity to pick up a well broken-in, fully serviced example at a bargain price, and these don’t tend to hang around!

No gig bag or hard case is included in the price, but as a specialist reseller, I have various suitable options available separately. I stock a number of brand-new big brand name bags and cases, as well as a few quality second-hand options. Just ask for details, and I’ll be happy to offer a discount when a case is purchased together with the guitar.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Epiphone Les Paul Custom – Alpine White (2004, Unsung Factory Korea)

Price: 435 – SOLD

Description

The Les Paul Custom has always sat proudly at the very top of the range in terms of aesthetics, features, and overall presence, and every time I see one in Alpine White, it immediately transports my thoughts to Randy Rhoads and the über-cool presence he had whilst rocking the stage. Built in April 2004 at the highly respected Unsung factory in Korea, this guitar oozes mojo with its “come and play me” looks, backed up by smooth, effortless playability and with a myriad of sounds that really resonate with many players.

Early 2000s Korean-made Epiphones from the Unsung plant (identified by the “U” prefix in the serial number) are widely considered part of the “golden era” of Epiphone manufacturing. These guitars are respected by players and luthiers alike for their skilled construction, quality wood selection, and superb craftsmanship. When professionally set up and maintained, (as all guitars that come through Sosbro Guitar Co. are), these Unsung-built Customs have developed a strong reputation as serious “value giants,” comfortably rivalling far more expensive instruments in both feel and performance.

Tonally, this guitar delivers everything you expect from a high-end Les Paul. In the neck position, it is fitted with the factory Epiphone 57CH humbucker, delivering smooth, warm, PAF-style clarity. In the bridge, you have the Epiphone HOTCH pickup, a higher-output humbucker offering a brighter, more aggressive voice with plenty of bite and growl for rock and lead work. Together, they offer a versatile tonal palette that sounds fantastic whether you’re playing clean or running through a pushed tube amp.

Condition-wise, it is quite unbelievable how near perfect this guitar is for an instrument built 22 years ago. While it has clearly been played and enjoyed over the years, this example is a true “case queen” in the sense that there is practically not a single mark on it. The previous owner clearly treated it with the absolute care and respect an instrument of this calibre deserves.

As with all instruments that pass through my hands, this guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment to ensure it arrives stage and studio ready. I have cleaned all the hardware, conditioned the fretboard, and cleaned and tested all the pots (replacing the neck tone pot as it was noisy), and cleaned the pickup switch. It has been restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge) and given a full workshop setup in the Sosbro Guitar Co. workshop, dialed in with a comfortable low action that makes it an absolute joy to play.

I can assure you, if this becomes your new axe, you will not be disappointed!

No gig bag or hard case is included in the price, but as a specialist reseller, I have various suitable options available separately. I stock a number of brand-new bags and cases, as well as a few quality second-hand options. Just ask for details, and I’ll be happy to offer a discount when a case is purchased together with the guitar.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Condition: Used – Exceptional near-mint “case queen” condition for a 22-year-old instrument (see description)

Epiphone Les Paul Custom – Cherry Sunburst (2006)

Price: £435 – SOLD

Description

The Les Paul is an iconic guitar used by many guitar heroes over the years, and the Les Paul Custom has always sat proudly at the very “top of the range” in terms of aesthetics, features, and overall presence. Built in May 2006 at the highly regarded Qingdao factory in China, this particular example is an absolute show stopper.

The flame on this guitar top is just wow, this guitar is absolutely flaming hot! The beautiful Cherry Sunburst finish is perfectly complemented by the factory gold hardware, which has started to mildly age naturally. This perfectly authentic, natural aging just adds to the incredible mojo that seems to ooze out of this beautiful instrument.

Tonally, this guitar offers a great combination of vintage warmth, bite, and modern punch. As factory standard in the neck position, it is fitted with an Epiphone 57CH (Alnico Classic) humbucker, delivering smooth, warm, PAF-style tones with plenty of clarity. In the bridge, you have the Epiphone HOTCH pickup, a higher-output humbucker offering a brighter, more aggressive voice with plenty of growl that is ideal for rock and lead playing. Together, they provide a very versatile tonal range, covering everything from clean, rounded tones to punchy, driven sounds.

Condition-wise, it is quite remarkable for a guitar that was built over 20 years ago. There is almost not a single mark on it. It has clearly been incredibly well looked after, and only shows the usual minor light play marks/light scratches (exaggerated in the photos as under direct lighting), of a guitar of any age.

As with all instruments that pass through my hands, this guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment to ensure it arrives stage-ready. I have cleaned all the hardware, conditioned the fretboard, and cleaned and tested all the pots and pickup switch.

Condition: Used – Remarkable condition for a 20-year-old instrument (see description).

Epiphone Les Paul Standard ’60s “Inspired by Gibson” – Iced Tea Burst (2019)

Price: £425

Description

This Epiphone Les Paul Standard ’60s “Inspired by Gibson” in a stunning Iced Tea Burst is a fantastic example of the newer generation of Epiphone guitars, designed with vintage accurate specifications and that unmistakable classic Les Paul sound, look and feel.

The Les Paul is, of course, one of the most iconic guitars in the world, used by countless guitar heroes over the years. This particular example was built in November 2019 at the highly regarded Qingdao factory in China and presents beautifully.

Part of Epiphone’s hugely successful “Inspired by Gibson” collection, these models were created to bring the look, feel, and tone of vintage 1960s-era Les Pauls to a more accessible price point. You get all the key ingredients here: a solid mahogany body paired with a maple cap and a beautiful AA flame maple veneer for that classic “flame top” look, delivering the unmistakable Les Paul sound of warmth, punch, and top-end clarity. The mahogany neck features a fast-playing ’60s SlimTaper C-profile, an Indian Laurel fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays, and a Graph Tech nut. The Kalamazoo-style headstock is equipped with quality Grover Rotomatic tuning machines, which, alongside the Epiphone LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, contribute to rock-solid tuning stability, sustain, and reliability.

This guitar is powered by a perfectly balanced set of Epiphone’s acclaimed USA designed ProBucker humbuckers, featuring a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a slightly hotter ProBucker-3 in the bridge. Together with CTS potentiometers and individual volume and tone controls, this setup delivers rich, dynamic, touch-sensitive tones, from smooth, warm cleans to biting, articulate lead sounds. It is a very responsive guitar that feels alive in the hands.

Overall, the guitar is in great condition for an instrument built nearly 7 years ago, showing only the usual very light surface swirls visible under direct lighting. Some natural light aging has started on the nickel-plated hardware, which just adds to the natural mojo of this beautiful guitar. During the setup inspection, I did notice a very minor, surface-only lacquer crack by the nut. I have checked this area thoroughly with a UV light and I am very confident that this is a minor lacquer defect that does not affect the playability or neck stability in any way. You can only feel it by running your nail over the area, and most people would miss it entirely. I have tried to photograph this as clearly as possible to provide reassurance. I am so confident with this not being a structural issue that, whilst I do not normally offer guarantees, in this instance, should the guitar neck fail in this specific area only, I will accept a return and provide a full refund up to 6 months from the date of purchase. (Note: This is subject to the guitar being returned to me with no signs of misuse; it must be in the exact same condition as when it was purchased, other than the mentioned area failing, with no signs of further damage). The only other mark I could find was a slight mark where a very small ding has been sympathetically mended on the back top of the headstock above the serial number, which is really not all that noticeable.

As with all instruments that pass through my hands, this guitar has just undergone a thorough professional refurbishment to ensure it arrives stage ready. I have cleaned all the hardware, conditioned the fretboard, and cleaned and tested all the pots and switch. It has been restrung with a fresh set of D’Addario XL Nickel Wound strings (9-42 gauge) and given a full workshop setup in the Sosbro Guitar Co. workshop, dialed in with a comfortable medium/low action that makes it feel really comfortable to play.

I have sold a large number of Epiphone and Gibson guitars over the years, and the “Inspired by Gibson” models are some of the best Epiphones produced in terms of build quality, feel, and vintage-correct specifications. These are £550+ new, so grab yourself a bargain!

I can assure you, if this becomes your new axe, you will not be disappointed.
